How do I re-install SymPhoTime after changing my computer or upgrading the operating system of my MicroTime 200?

Updating from Windows 10 to Windows 11 should work smoothly, and all software should stay as it is. However it is a good idea to back-up the files mentioned below.

Please note: The Framegrabber MOU camera is not compatible with Windows 11 Windows 11 works with the newer USB MOU camera.

  1. Find the path where SymPhoTime is installed by right-clicking on the Desktop shortcut and selecting “open file location”
  2. Find the settings.pfs file and make a backup copy. (This files contains all the basic hardware settings and some settings of the appearance of the software
  3. Make copies of the User-settings files (*.PUS). These will be wherever you saved them.
  1. If you do not have the installation DVDs any more, contact PicoQuant support (support@picoquant.com) for the download links for your software and drivers. Let them know your MicroTime 200 serial number.
  2. Install everything according to on-screen instructions
  3. Copy the “settings.pfs” file into the SymPhoTime 64 installation folder. You can change the filename of the existing file to have it as a backup (for example as “settings_default.pfs”).
  4. Restart the computer
  5. If you were using user settings: Start SymPhoTime, load the user setting you'd like to use, and “save user settings as file and desktop shortcut”. This will create a shortcut from which you can directly start SymPhoTime with these user settings.

I want to update my SymPhoTime 64 to the latest version. What do I need to do?

Updates for SymPhoTime 64 are free. You can always get the latest version from https://www.picoquant.com/products/category/fluorescence-microscopes/symphotime-64-fluorescence-lifetime-imaging-and-correlation-software

Updates of the SymPhoTime 64 should work smoothly by just installing from the installation EXE.
