This procedure is a quick check of the optical hardware and evaluates the overall system performance. It takes typically ten to fifteen minutes and allows the overall alignment to be easily maintained. The basic idea is to make sure that the laser beam is going properly in the Main Optical Unit (MOU). To this end we follow the excitation beam path step by step from the Laser Combining Unit (LCU) to the major dichroic, then through the pinhole and finally to the detectors.
